ECFIA's members manufacture a range of High Temperature Insulation Wools (HTIWs) used in high temperature applications. These are available in a range of product forms and preparations for subsequent processing or application.
There are three main groups of HTIWs, which are used for different applications depending on the characteristics of the products and the requirements of the specific application:
- Alkaline Earth Silicate (AES) Wool
- Alumino Silicate Wool (ASW), also known as Refractory Ceramic Fibres (RCF)
- Polycrystalline Wool (PCW)
All of the above materials have the appearance of cotton wool when manufactured. They are white with randomized fibres forming a light fibrous mass or wool. On account of the nature of the fiberization process, the wool contains fibres with a range of different lengths and diameters.
